Five hours before her brother, Nick, was arrested in connection with their deaths, Romy Reiner found her parents — Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner — dead.

Romy, 27, made the discovery Sunday afternoon at her parents' home in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Brentwood, and called 911, according to PEOPLE.

Per a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department, at approximately 3:40 p.m. police responded to a call of a death investigation and found the deceased, who were identified as the longtime couple.

"As a result of the initial investigation, it was determined that the Reiners were the victims of homicide," the statement read. "The investigation further revealed that Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Robert and Michele Reiner, was responsible for their deaths. Nick Reiner was located and arrested at approximately 9:15 p.m."

Nick was later booked for murder and currently remains in custody with no bail. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration on Tuesday.

The news comes as sources told PEOPLE on Monday that Nick and his father had been involved in a loud heated argument during a holiday party on Saturday night, hosted by Conan O'Brien. The outlet reports that one source recalled Nick "freaking everyone out, acting crazy, kept asking people if they were famous." According to TMZ, the couple left the party following the argument.

In addition to Romy and Nick, Rob and Michele — who got married in 1989 after first meeting while Rob was directing When Harry Met Sally — shared another son, Jake, 34. Rob is also survived by his daughter, Tracy Reiner, 61, whom he adopted during his first marriage to actress and director Penny Marshall.

Though Romy has not offered a statement publicly, Tracy told NBC News that the sudden passing of her father, 78, and his wife, 68, has left her stunned. "I came from the greatest family ever," she told the outlet. "I don't know what to say. I’m in shock."

Rob's family also shared a statement to Variety after the filmmaker's death, writing, "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time."

In addition to When Harry Met Sally, Rob is known for his many contributions to cinema as a director, including This Is Spinal Tap (1984), Stand by Me (1986), The Princess Bride (1987), and A Few Good Men (1992), and as an actor as Mike "Meathead" Stivic on the sitcom All in the Family. Michele was an acclaimed photographer.
